About me
My passion for museums and the positive impact that they have on people and communities has never been stronger. I continue to be excited about working with museums and heritage organisations and helping them develop and connect with audiences.
Throughout my work, and especially whilst working with so many AIM members, I have strived to help museums develop successful ways of working to ensure that their purpose and strategic direction remains relevant.
Director of AIM
As the Director of AIM from 2018-2021 I gained a fantastic overview of the strengths of museum and heritage organisations across the UK, the amazing work they do and the challenges they face.
I led a focused and committed advocacy push to secure vital support for the sector to survive the impact of Covid, culminating in unprecedented levels of sector support from the government’s Cultural Recovery Fund, whilst also ensuring that AIM refocused its services to champion and support its members through these most challenging of times.
Recent work
I worked with Heather Lomas to develop a Museums Readiness Checklist for Arts Council England to support museums as they prepare for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR).
I led the team that researched and delivered the Government Social Research report and data sheets in the Museum Spotlight Survey 2022 and Museum Spotlight Survey 2024 for the Welsh Government.
I worked with Spencer & Fry to deliver a comprehensive Conservation Management Plan for the internationally significant collections of the Fashion Museum Bath.
I hold the Fellowship of the Museums Association (FMA) and act as an assessor for the FMA and as a consultant for the AIM Higher Governance programme. I have extensive Trustee experience and from 2023-2026 I was the Chair of Icon, the Institute of Conservation.
